Class Details

Time and Location:
St. John the Baptist
“Seeking Truth” follows the academic calendar year. We meet weekly at Creighton Prep, on Thursday evenings. Please see calendar page for exceptions. We start promptly at 7:30 and finish at 9:15 pm.

Class format:
The class begins with praise music and an inspirational opening. The openings range from personal testimony to humorous skits or brief topical teachings. The class then divides into small discussion groups of single or mixed gender. Each group is led by a trained facilitator. During this time, you will share your prepared responses to the home study questions. The typical small group has 12-15 members, small enough that all can participate, but large enough to generate a lively discussion. The evening culminates with a live lecture given by the teaching director of “Seeking Truth,” Sharon Doran. Sharon is an experienced Bible teacher and uses many visuals in her presentations.

Curriculum:

Each year brings a new study. For 2011-2012, we will be studying the book of Genesis using the Catholic Scripture Study (CSS) curriculum authored by Steve Ray.  Genesis is a MUST when studying the Bible.  For within it lies the secrets of the foundation of the world and all mankind. We will see in Genesis the creation as well as the fall of humankind, which shows us our desperate need for a savior.  We will meet numerous patriarchs that give insight into our own human nature. The colorful narratives are sure to delight the reader and provoke good group discussion.  You will also see typology in each chapter that points to fulfillment in Jesus Christ.  As St. Augustine tells us; “The New Testament in the Old lies concealed, The Old in the New is revealed” This is an important foundational study that you won’t want to miss.

Advanced registration is needed for planning and ordering of curriculum. Class materials will be handed out on the first evening of class.  You will get an e-mail prior to the first class with all the needed information.

Registration fee:
The cost for the 2011-2012 study will be $75 per person. Confidential partial scholarships are available upon request. Please don’t delay. See the Registration Page to sign up now!
